What a night guard actually does
A custom night guard is a hard acrylic cover that keeps upper and lower teeth from grinding against each other while you sleep. It does not “cure” clenching. It protects enamel, reduces chip risk, and can ease morning jaw fatigue when grinding is the main problem.
Boil-and-bite drugstore guards are softer and bulkier. We fit laboratory-made guards from impressions taken in the office so the bite is even.
