Why a crown beats a big filling.

When a tooth has a large filling, a crack, or has had a root canal, the remaining tooth structure is weaker than nature intended. A crown wraps the tooth like a helmet — restoring full chewing strength and sealing out bacteria that would otherwise cause decay to return under the old filling.

Modern all-ceramic crowns are indistinguishable from real teeth. They don't stain, they don't have metal showing at the gumline, and they're kind to the opposing teeth you chew against.

CEREC — one visit, done.

Traditional crowns take two visits a week or two apart: one to prep and take an impression, a second to remove a temporary and cement the final. CEREC compresses all of that into a single appointment.

We scan your prepped tooth with a digital wand (no goopy impression material), design the crown in 3D on-screen, and mill it from a single block of dental ceramic while you wait. The whole thing takes roughly 90 minutes from numbing to cemented crown. You leave with a permanent restoration — no temporary to pop off while you eat popcorn two days later.

When a bridge fits better.

If you're missing a tooth and the teeth on either side could use crowning anyway, a bridge can be the most efficient solution — three connected crowns, one of them replacing the missing tooth. A three-unit bridge at Missouri City Dentistry starts at $3,600 (often partially covered by insurance).

For missing teeth where the neighbors are perfectly healthy, we usually recommend an implant instead — it doesn't require grinding down healthy enamel. Dr. Huynh will talk through both options honestly.

Crowns & Bridges in Missouri City, TX — questions worth asking.

Do you take my insurance for a crown?

Nearly every caller asks this before anything else. We are in-network with many PPO dental plans and we file the claim for you, and most plans pay a share of a crown as a major restorative service — though some plans have a waiting period on major work. Call 281-747-9988 with your card in hand and we will verify your specific plan, including any waiting period and how much of your annual maximum is left, then tell you your out-of-pocket before we prep the tooth. If we are not in-network with your plan, we will say so on the phone rather than after treatment.

What if I don't have insurance?

You can still have the crown done, and the price is in writing first. Self-pay single all-ceramic CEREC crowns start at $1,350 and three-unit bridges start at $3,600. Our membership plan takes 20% off treatment, and for larger treatment plans we offer financing through Cherry and CareCredit, which you can apply for while you are in the chair.

Are you accepting new patients for crown work?

Yes — you do not need to be an existing patient. Call 281-747-9988 and we will take your details and insurance information over the phone so the first visit is spent on the tooth. If the tooth is straightforward and there is enough time in the appointment, our in-office CEREC mill means the permanent crown can often be done at that same visit. If the tooth needs a root canal or gum treatment first, we will show you the X-ray and stage it rather than crown over a problem.

How much does a dental crown cost in Missouri City?

A single all-ceramic CEREC crown at Missouri City Dentistry starts at $1,350. Most PPO dental plans cover crowns as a major restorative service. We verify your coverage and provide a written estimate before beginning work.

What's the difference between a same-day crown and a traditional crown?

Same-day CEREC crowns are milled in-office from a single block of dental ceramic during one 90-minute appointment. Traditional crowns require two visits spaced 1-2 weeks apart, a temporary crown in between, and a goopy impression. Same-day crowns use a digital scan — no impression, no temp, no second appointment.

How long do dental crowns last?

With good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, a modern ceramic crown typically lasts 15-25 years. The underlying tooth still needs to be kept healthy — decay at the crown margin is the most common reason crowns need replacement. We review a written estimate with you before any crown work begins.

Does getting a crown hurt?

The prep and placement are done under local anesthesia; most patients feel nothing during the visit. Some sensitivity to hot or cold is normal for a few days afterward, especially if the tooth had deep decay. If a root canal is needed first, we can do that same-day as well or refer to an endodontist.

Do you offer bridges for missing teeth?

Yes. Traditional three-unit bridges start at $3,600 — two crowns anchoring a middle replacement tooth. For patients with healthy neighboring teeth, we often recommend a dental implant instead, since a bridge requires reducing the two adjacent teeth. We'll walk through both options at a free consultation.
